Nuno d'Orey Cancela de Abreu

Graduated in Agronomy in the Instituto Superior de Agronomia of Lisbon in 1980. Later did a post-graduate in Viticulture and Enology at the National School of Agronomy of Montpellier, France.

Between 1981 and 1987 he was Executive Director of the Association for the Development of Duriente Viticulture. From 1985 to 1987 he was professor of Enology and Wine Stabilization and Treatments in the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro.

From 2001 to July 2010, he accumulated the functions of director of enology department and administrator of the Quinta da Alorna.

In 2005 he initiates a collaboration with the wines of Quinta de São José de Peramanca. His philosophy is to respect the unique character of each terroir and also believes that the main advantage of the Portuguese wines is their complexity and sophistication.
